Improtant Information

PRE-ARRIVAL: It is the responsibility of every team to ensure that permission is obtained from each student's parent or guardian when traveling to Penn State for ARML. Every team should develop its own permission form which should state that permission has been granted. A parents or guardian's signature should be required on this form. The form should comply with all of the requirements of the organization sending the team. Since these requirements vary from team to team, there is no general "Permission Form" provided on this website. These forms need not be submitted to ARML or Penn State.

Penn State University requires that every student on every team has completed the form above called, "Medical Information and Waiver Form." It is the responsibility of the adults in charge of the team to produce this signed form in the event that a student requires medical attention. THIS IS A REQUIREMENT OF PENN STATE UNIVERSITY.

ARRIVAL: When you arrive at the University, follow the campus signs, in addition, there are map(s) available that show the locations of the dormitories and registration building, Findlay Commons.

HOUSING: We will follow the same registration procedure as we have used in the past. A printed map of the dormitory area will be given to the coaches at registration. Only two single rooms per team will be reserved for coaches. This includes breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Teams will be charged for additional single rooms. Please see the "Invoices for Registration Fees and Housing" for the cost of additional single rooms as well as the costs associated with staying extra nights.

FLYING TO PENN STATE? If your team will be flying to Penn State and you would like to secure a bus from the airport to the university, please contact John Farris (jlf30@outreach.psu.edu) with the exact date of arrival and Airline/flight numbers.

FRIDAY: On Friday evening, there will be three official events.

The Coaches' Meeting will start around 8:00 pm. Teams must send at least one coach to this meeting. Information regarding the actual contest are discussed at this meeting. It is expected that the information distributed at this meeting will be shared with the entire team.

The New Proctor's Meeting will also start around 8:00pm. Teams must send their new coaches to this meeting. Issues regarding proctoring procedures and responsibilities are presented and discussed at this meeting. It is expected that the information distributed at this meeting will be shared with the entire team.

'The Song Contest' is a very light-hearted contest where teams are welcome to make a parody-like song with a mathematics theme. Refreshments are served prior to and during the competition. The team that wins this contest could potentially perform (time permitting) their song during the award's ceremony.

SATURDAY: On Saturday, the competition will begin with the Team Round followed by a five-minute break and then the Power Round. All the teams will then report to the Pegula Ice Arena. Proctors will return the solutions to the stage at the Pegula Ice Arena. The Individual Rounds will begin when all teams are seated. After the Individual Rounds, there will be a lunch break. After lunch the teams will reassemble at Pegula Ice Arena for the Relay Rounds and the Individual Tie-Breaker followed by the Awards Assembly.

IMPORTANT!

TOWELS, SOAP, PILLOW, BLANKET, ETC. Remember to bring your own towels, soap, PILLOW, and BLANKET, as the University does not provide any of these items.

LUNCH ON SATURDAY: Boxed lunches will be served on Saturday in the Pegula Ice Arena. Lunch totals are needed by the due date for the registration. The lunch choices are: turkey, roast beef, ham, tuna, or roast vegetables. Boxed lunches represent a change from previous years.
